Allow me to reintroduce myself...

Aug 05, 2009

Every so often, I do a new build of the site or I do something else that gives me cause to write a welcome/introduction post. I've already got a list of ideas that I need to write about, so you can look forward to those posts soon. As I write more, more will follow. Now, for a quick update from where I've been.

The basics:
I live and work in Columbus, Ohio.
I'm a web developer by trade.
I'm passionate about food, music, and video games.

This blog will cover all of those things in some fashion or another.

OK, that's it for now. Welcome.

Oh, by the way, hello. I'm Russ Hall. Nice to meet you.

Can't Leave Bloggin' Alone, The Game Needs Me...

Someone once said something like, "Why say it yourself when someone has already said it better." That could be a horrible paraphrase, but I'm deliberately not researching in the vein of this post.

I envy those people who can, on a whim, recount others' words from books, poems, songs, movies, and speeches. I can recite along with some of my favorite movies and sing along with an ungodly number of songs, but to have that steel-trap mind for stuff you've read—it's more impressive to me for some reason.

It doesn't make you a better person, inherently, but it does seem to add validity to things you say.

"If this person can quote Benjamin Franklin for me, then he probably knows more about this topic than I do, so I'll listen." Totally ridiculous, but I'm sure most people unconsciously do it.

Your own words will forever be stronger, though, so you should use them whenever possible.

Draw inspiration from others, but speak with your own voice.

A Project and a project

Jul 08, 2008

Before I head to bed, I wanted to be sure I posted so that I can start to develop some sort of habit or routine with it. I was working on a new web project that Ali and I picked up a couple months ago but had been neglecting until recently. Now, with a push, we have the potential of finishing it in the next week or so--maybe even in the next few days if I can get some inspiration with content writing. I'll post a link to the finished product when it's all done, but for now it stays in development.

The other project I want to undertake is making our rented condo seem lived in. I'll have been here for a year very soon, and Aaron didn't move in too long after I did. But, the first floor--the one that everyone sees--is more bare than a lot of prison cells. Fine, we're not big art collectors, but I'm sure we can come up with something. Also, the vines on the patio are getting so unruly they started to snake their way into the basement through an open window... I thought plants went where there was light, not uninhabited dark corners. So, I'll be getting my green thumb on with that little task soon, too.

I'll take pictures as the home improvements commence.
